This Washington surf competition is set to return after a 22-year hiatus

Attention surf enthusiasts in Washington! A classic tradition is returning after a 22-year hiatus. Mark your calendars because the Westport Longboard Classic will be back in Washington soon.
That’s right, on September 14th and 15th, you’ll be able to catch (or surf in) the “rebirth” of the Westport Longboard Classic, thanks to The Surf Shop.
“Reinstating this soulful PNW tradition after a 22-year hiatus, we at The Surf Shop are thrilled to bring back this special event that our surf community throughout Washington, Oregon, Canada and afar has been patiently waiting for,” they state.
“Save the date and prepare to join us as we continue to make more historic surf family memories together, whether as a participant in the contest or as a spectator just coming for a good time.”

For those looking to participate, divisions will range from Kid-friendly to novice to multiple women’s & men’s age groups, as well as a team relay paddle race, according to organizers.
Registration is live now, and if you love to watch surf, be sure to check it out! Surfers from all over the PNW are expected to drop in and put on a show at this year’s event.
Twenty-two years is a long time for a hiatus!
