We know, we really are doing some good work here, but this is as much for us as it is for you. So, enjoy the beginning of the spooky month and take in some of these good news stories.

Toronto is calling to decriminalize drugs for personal use

Let’s start things off with some good news on our home turf. The city of Toronto is beginning the process to request that drugs for personal use be decriminalized. This would be a major step to reduce deaths from tainted drugs and overdoses and help drug users across the city live safely. In our books, this is some great news.

Tiger King season 2 is coming this November

Remember the misadventures of Joe Exoctic, Carol Baskin, and the whole crew? Wondering what the heck they’ve been up to since the first season of Tiger King? Well, wait no more because season two of the hit show will be out on November 17th. We highly recommend checking out the trailer!

The 39 Vale Miners in Northern Ontario have been rescued

If you’ve been following the news, you’ve likely heard the story of the 39 northern Ontario miners stuck underground. Well, folks, there were lots of cheers the other day as they all were safely rescued. After 72 tense hours, it’s really a relief, and a joy, so see everyone make it out.

The ‘Two Michaels’ are back in Canada

Speaking of relief, the Two Michaels, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, have made it back to Canadian soil. In case you missed the story, they were arrested in China in 2018 and have been in jail there since. But, with the release of Meng Wanzhou in the US, it seems like the two of them are back in Canada. It’s good to have you back guys!

We observed the first-ever National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

This week we celebrated the first-ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a powerful tribute to the horrible history of genocide, discrimination, and injustices done by Canada to Indigenous people. We hope that you took the day to reflect, listen and learn more about Indigenous history in this country.

And there you have it folks, a whole load of good news for your Friday. Let these good news stories soak into your bones and prep you for a beautiful October and an even better weekend!
