Sometimes, we all gotta go, but as many of us know, finding a place to do that isn’t exactly the easiest or nicest experience. Especially here in Washington, because it turns out, our state doesn’t exactly have the nicest public restrooms. From parks to rest stops, airports, and more, here’s where we rank.

Lavatory Lab conducted a recent poll, asking 3,000 respondents to rank the public bathrooms in their state on a scale of 1-10. The overall response was less than ideal, Americans rated their local public restrooms at a 5.2 out of 10 score.

What makes the score so low? Classic factors like odor, lack of privacy, general cleanliness, overflowing trashcans, and more. Just think of the last public restroom you were in, it probably wasn’t memorable, at least not for good reasons.

So where are the best and worst bathrooms? Nationally speaking, Wyoming has the worst public restrooms with a 3.5/10 score. It turns out Washington isn’t very far behind with an overall score of 4.8/10. In fact, according to the survey, public bathrooms in Washington came in as 15th worst overall.

On the other end of the spectrum, Vermont came in on top with their bathrooms stealing a score of 8/10.

It looks like we have some work to do.
