Hello, Vancouver! With spring just around the corner, we thought it might be nice to revisit one of our favourite guides. After all, happy hour in Vancouver can be a delicious and very cheap affair, so why not do some exploring? And, we’re here with some great places to start.

Here are some amazing happy hour deals in Vancouver.

Como Taperia

We’re kicking things off with one of our favourite spots to grab a drink in the city- Como Taperia. And while dinners here are fantastic, we have to hand it to them for making happy hour memorable. In addition to great deals on authentic drinks (think vermouth and cava), various tapas dishes are also offered free of charge.

Di Beppe

Di Beppe Caffe has been a great addition to the Gastown neighbourhood for some time now, in part because of the great happy hour deals. On warmer days, swing by for classic cocktails like a negroni or an Aperol Spritz, while munching on Italian antipasti dishes.

Guu Izakaya

Kudos to Guu for consistently living up to the expectations that come with being a Japanese bar. Their happy hour menu offers a little taste of everything, from house cocktails and wine to pints of Sapporo. And, you can enjoy your drink alongside dishes like edamame, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. Plus, they’ve got multiple locations!

The Arbor

Sibling restaurants always seem to have way better happy hours, and that tracks with The Arbor. Although there are only 3 food options, each one is delicious (especially the togarashi fries). Plus, nightcaps are easy, since they offer $5 glasses of wine from bottles they opened that day.

Nightingale

See? Here we are again with the sibling restaurant thing. While Hawksworth dominates fine dining, Nightingale brings that same quality to the happy hour world. No seriously- you can get a full wood-fired pizza for $15 and a sleeve of Main Street brand beer for $5. That’s seriously competitive pricing and just a taste of the menu.

Where: 1017 W Hastings Street

Colony

The Colony has really nailed the vibe of an approachable neighbourhood bar while it expands around the city. And, that theme stays the same with their happy hour menus. Consistently delicious, with tons of options to choose from, we can see why this used to be the meetup bar of choice. And, we’re sure it’ll return to that status as things get back to normal, whenever that is.

La Mezcaleria

mezcaleria

We couldn’t write a guide to happy hour and forget about Mexican cuisine. We’re major fans of La Mezcaleria, especially since they offer single-servings of their unbelievably decadent queso fundido dish. Pair one of those with a margarita or two, and you’ll be in heaven.

When: Tuesday to Thursday, 4 PM-6 PM, and Saturday to Sunday, 2 PM-5 PM
Where: 1622 Commercial Drive

Pourhouse

Pourhouse is the perfect spot if you’ve got delicious burgers on your mind. For just $7, you can tuck into their house burger (either smashed beef or portobello) and add fixings until your heart’s content. We have to admit, a smashed burger topped with foie gras is the kind of high/low mix we’re looking for, and $22 is about as cheap as things will get.

Joe Fortes
