Smitty’s Oyster House – Main Street

We’re starting off with one of our personal faves on this list, Smitty’s on Main. With all-day happy hour on Tuesdays and regular jazz nights, Smitty’s Oyster House is rapidly becoming a fixture in Mount Pleasant. Whether you prefer your oysters raw ($2.50 each) or pan-fried ($3.50 each, minimum order of three), Smitty’s has you covered.

For a nearly ‘buck-a-shuck’ deal, head to Hydra Estiatorio between 3 and 6 pm for their coveted happy hour specials, which include daily $1.50 oysters, $6 wines, and $12 bites ranging from kalamari and spanakopita to Greek fries.

Vancouver Fish Company 

Another strong contender, Vancouver Fish Company is a must-visit while on Granville Island, and the fact that you’re dining waterfront is just the cherry on top. Diners can take advantage of their fresh-shucked oysters for $2.50 each between 3 and 5 pm daily, with a minimum order of six.

Rodney’s Oyster House

You’ll never run out of BC oysters to try at Rodney’s. And during happy hour (Monday to Thursday from 4 to 6 pm, and 2 to 6 pm from Friday to Sunday), fresh-shucked oysters are priced at $2.95 apiece.

Note that the happy hour special is only valid at their Yaletown location.

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market

Fanny Bay’s oysters are world-famous, and for very good reason. They have a huge selection of BC oysters at their raw bar, normally priced at $3.50 each. During their daily happy hour from 2 to 6 pm, however, you can get their featured oysters for $2 and their premium featured oysters for $2.75 each.

Where: 762 Cambie Street

Coast Restaurant

From 2:30 to 5:30 pm daily, you can get $1.50 feature oysters at Coast. So whether you go with one or ten, they’re all served with a classic cocktail sauce, fresh horseradish, and lemon.

Where: 1054 Alberni Street

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar 

Boulevard offers diners fresh $2 oysters during their happy hour from 3 to 5 pm every day (minimum order of six, maximum order of 12). As well, you can snag some specialty chowder or crispy chicken wings for $13, and wash it all down with $8 wine or highballs for $6.75.

Ancora Waterfront Dining

Last but certainly not least, we come to Ancora. With locations all over Vancouver, this one’s a great pick for a more fine dining-esque experience, at a decent price point. During happy hour (2:30 to 5 pm daily), you can enjoy a platter of half a dozen fresh oysters for $15 – perfect for sharing, or monopolizing.
