The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is one of the most celebrated events of the summer, and hearing that the 2023 festival was cancelled earlier this year was definitely not the news we were hoping for. But now, that is all water under the bridge, thanks to new funding efforts and additional volunteer support.
According to its website, the organizers planĀ to use the 2022 festival as a template for this year, with the help of a new, larger board of directors dedicated to making the 46th annual festival one to remember.
“In the past month, new funders have come forward with substantial offers to help the festival happen this year. In addition, we have had an outpouring of volunteer support to assist in many aspects of getting the festival organized and launched. Other festivals have stepped up to assist with booking performers,” reads the festival’s website.
We can definitely appreciate the ‘all for one, and one for all’ mentality!
So while details about this year’s festival and lineup are still in the works, Vancouver residents can once again look forward to sunny beach days and folk music that will have you on your feet no matter how hot the sand is.
