The only thing better than a Shakespearean comedy is a Shakespearean comedy set in the 70s. Lucky for you (and us), the latter is what you’ll witness unfolding on the stage at the Reeve Theatre this November.
The School of Creative and Performance Arts at the University of Calgary is showcasing an exciting new adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. And with this adaptation, they are set to transport you back to the groovy 70s.

Adapted and directed by Cali Sproule, U of C’s Much Ado About Nothing is set in 1976. The rom-com explores love, loyalty, jealousy and heartbreak among other emotions.
“When watching our play, you might find yourself remembering the overwhelming feeling of falling in love, perhaps you’ll question the relevancy of a woman being publicly shamed, or feel the pulls of jealousy and deception. Or, at the very least, you’ll dance a little in your seat and enjoy a 70’s disco party,” says Sproule.
The show will be on from Friday, November 25th to Saturday, December 3rd. And tickets are currently on sale.
You can even catch the live stream of the play on Saturday, November 26.
