Uber Canada has brought back one of its most cost-efficient methods of ride-sharing in select Canadian cities.

Along with the many changes that came with the COVID-19 pandemic, Uber Canada paused its UberPool option in 2020 in order to ensure everyone’s safety at the time. Now, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal will see a new and revamped ride-sharing experience.

“We know affordability plays a role when people are making decisions on how to get from point A to B,” said Michael van Hemmen, General Manager of Uber Canada Mobility. “This new shared rides option will provide a more affordable and sustainable experience for riders and the cities we serve.”

The new UberX Share will allow riders to get an upfront discount of up to 20% if they choose UberX Share (Uber One membership will see an additional 5% off), and offers a greener way of traveling (fewer cars = less emissions). As for staying on schedule, UberX Share only adds about 6 minutes to your trip so you can plan your ride on time with that in mind.

For Toronto, the boundary of the available service will only be within the city of Toronto – sorry GTA.

And Vancouver, the boundary is stretched to Royal Oak Ave and Springer Ave in the East and includes the UBC Campus in the West, according to Uber.
