Head’s up, Vancouver! TransLink just launched a new express bus route between the River District and Marine Drive Station called Route 80.
Starting Monday, April 17th, River District residents officially have a new direct connection to and from the Canada Line.
The launch of the new route is due in large part to savings through TransLink’s Bus Stop Balancing program, which made service faster and more efficient on several routes, according to a release.
“Route 80 is a welcome addition to TransLink’s bus network, and an example of how we can optimize bus service throughout the region within our existing operating budget,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn in the release. “We recognize the growth of the River District and are excited to improve service for members of that community.”

The new Vancouver route will serve 400 to 500 customers per day, complementing routes 100 and 31.
“The introduction of fast and frequent bus service connecting the River District with Marine Gateway is an important step forward for transit accessibility in South Vancouver,” says Mayor Ken Sim in the release.
Route 80 will run every 30 minutes on weekdays between 6 am and 9 am, and between 3 pm and 6 pm.
And there you have it, Vancouver. Translink’s newest bus route. For more info on current service changes to expect this April, you can visit their Transit Service Changes page.
