Toronto’s beach facilities will be officially reopening this weekend

It’s beginning to look a lot like summer! Toronto’s beaches will be opening to the public this weekend and we, for one, could not be more jazzed about it. After perhaps the longest winter this city has ever seen (we’re talking lockdown here, not weather), folks all over are ready for a little fun in the sun.

Of course, plenty of people have been hitting up city beaches for their daily mental health walks as per government stay-at-home order guidelines for months. But beginning this Saturday, June 5th, we’ll be able to enjoy the sandy shores for real. Lifeguards will be on duty. Plus, washrooms and other beach facilities will be open.

This natural lazy river you can float down near Toronto is the perfect summer day trip

Toronto is home to a number of Blue Flag beaches within the city. To be a Blue Flag beach means certified high standards when it comes to water quality, safety, environmental management and education. If you’re planning a swim at a city beach this weekend, looking out for that blue flag is a must.

Of course, if you do head to one of Toronto’s many waterfront locations, be sure to follow a few COVID-19 guidelines. Take the Ontario Ministry of Health self-assessment prior to your visit and be sure to maintain physical distance from others while you’re there.

See ya in the sun!
