This Toronto wilderness park has a floating bridge & isolated beaches

If you live in Toronto and want to escape the hustle and bustle, you don’t need to leave the city to do so! Found on the water’s edge in the Port Lands, Tommy Thompson Park is a nature reserve that’s easy to get to and even easier to enjoy.

It goes without saying that the first thing you’ll notice about Tommy Thompson Park is the beautiful view of Toronto’s skyline.

Once you’ve taken in the views, it’s time to enjoy the nature preserve. Tommy Thompson is completely man-made, boasting 500 hectares of land!

The park now has coastal marshes, secluded shorelines, and sand dunes.

Animal lovers will especially enjoy the park as it’s considered one of the best places for bird-watching in the area, with more than 300 recorded species.

Another popular attraction at Tommy Thompson Park is the floating pedestrian bridge.

The bridge is only open on weekends and holidays so if you’re hoping to check it out you’ll need to plan accordingly.

Be sure to make a stop along the shoreline to lounge, bask in the sun and take in the views! A map of the park, beaches and shoreline can be found here so you can plan out exactly where you want to stop.

If you’re planning on driving to the park, the entrance is located at Leslie Street and Unwin Avenue. If you’re taking TTC, the park is a five-minute walk from the Commissioner’s Street bus stop at Commissioner’s and Leslie.
