Three Seattle spots make Esquire’s “restaurants that America can’t afford to lose” list

We all know that restaurants across the nation have been hit incredibly hard by the pandemic. And recently Esquire magazine made a list of 100 American restaurants that we can’t afford to lose. Considering that Seattle is such a foodie city it’s no surprise that three local restaurants made this list.

The three restaurants mentioned are Canlis, Lowell’s, and Shiro’s. Now clearly two are not like the other on this list. Both Canlis and Shiro’s are high-end restaurants that not many of us can say with frequented or get to visit often. In other words, they are not accessible to the average restaurant patron.

Now with that in mind, both Canlis and Shiro’s have been institution restaurants in Seattle for quite a while. Canlis has been open since 1950 and Shiro’s since 1994. And Lowells has been open since 1957. Now, we have to say, we’re big fans of Lowell’s, the simple interior and predictably good American comfort food.

Not to mention you can’t find a better early morning breakfast spot. The view at Lowell’s is truly unmatched. And of course Pike Place Market is one of Seattle’s most iconic and historic spots.
