It was a very sad day when we learned that Cafe Racer was closing its doors for good. After all, this cafe has been a spot of joy, immense tragedy, resilience, arts, music, food, and more. It was and is truly a Seattle staple which is why we are overjoyed that it is returning to the scene.

That’s right folks, Cafe Racer is returning but this time to Capitol Hill. After a long search for a U District space, owners Jeff Ramsey and Cindy Anne have found one on the hill. You’ll be able to find the beloved music venue and cafe in the former location of Barca on 11th Ave.

Not only is this exciting to see a gem return but it’s also great for Capitol Hill’s live music scene. After all, venues have been shuttered for months and there will be no Capitol Hill Block Party for the second year in a row. We’re hoping that Cafe Racer and neighboring venues like Neumos and Chop Suey can look forward to a year of amazing shows. Because they need it and we need it too.

While we know the wait for this one is going to be very hard, it looks like things should be open by September of this year. In the meantime, Ramsey and Anne will be prepping the space to give it some of the charms of the old location. We absolutely can’t wait to see what they do and if you’d like to learn more you can click below.
