Well folks- the votes have been counted and the news is out! After a month-long, nationwide contest, the Borden Park Pavilion in Edmonton has been named the best restroom in Canada for 2021. How did it get there? Who did it beat out? Keep reading and find out!

Canada’s Best Restroom is an annual contest held by the company Cintas. Every year, they select 5 spots around the country, based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. Then, once the finalists are announced, a public vote takes place.

And, thanks to community engagement, the Borden Park Pavilion’s restroom got the most nationwide! Designed by the Toronto firm gh3*, the circular Pavilion features a futuristic, mirrored design. This super-modern sensibility extends to the restrooms, with wood, concrete and glass features. We’re not going to lie- it sure beats the restroom at our nearby public park.

Of course, the reward fits the contest. For winning, Borden Park will receive $2,500 in Cintas products and services to help with upkeep for a year. And, the restroom will be included in Canada’s Best Restroom® Hall of Fame.

Come on Cintas, this is a huge missed opportunity. Hall of Fame? Not Stall of Fame? It’s right there, for goodness sake!
