If you’re a fan of drag brunch, enter Ricecake’s monthly Drag ‘N’ Dim Sum event. AKA – the perfect combo of tasty eats & drinks by Cold Tea Restaurant and jaw-dropping performances by inclusive, local talent. Franz Ferdinand

The award-winning band Franz Ferdinand hails from Scotland and was originally formed in Glasgow back in 2001. Now, the inventive band has pretty much staked their claim on post-post-punk rock. Check ’em out at the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, August 26th – and bring your party hats.

If you haven’t already heard of the international music powerhouse that is Gipsy Kings, you have now! Leader and co-founder of the group Nicholas Reyes followed in his father’s footsteps to create a French-flamenco fusion band that would go on to perform on international stages for 30+ years and counting.

Join the Bill Reid Gallery this Saturday for an afternoon of beautiful, innovative beadwork, bannock, and refreshments. There will be a ton of talented Indigenous artists with exhibits on display – and plenty of beadwork for purchase as well. Presented in conjunction with the Beaded Nostalgia exhibition, the Beaders Market will take place from noon until 4 pm. And if you’re looking to check out the rest of the gallery, note that they’re offering free admission from 2 to 5 pm on the first Friday of every month.

Pet-A-Palooza 2022

The only thing better than a dog-friendly patio might be an entire festival dedicated to your pooch. The good news? Pet-A-Palooza is exactly that; a massive, treat-filled festival complete with puppy yoga, dog races, art shows, and even a dog-friendly pool party. Oh, and did we mention it’s free to attend??

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Nashville

The Vancouver Whitecaps are wrapping up their August MLS season with a Women & Girls in Sports match against Nashville SC on Saturday, August 27th. Folks can get a jumpstart to the weekend at the pre-game Warmup at the Terry Fox Plaza, complete with live music and food & drink specials.

Richmond Night Market

As August comes to a close, we want to remind folks of the 500+ amazing eats at the Richmond Night Market. Not that your stomachs really need reminding, if you’ve been to the night market before! And if not, you’ll definitely want to ASAP. There are a ton of inventive amusement park games in addition to the hundreds of food & drink options.
