Happy last week of September! While it’s officially fall, it looks like we have some warm weather ahead. And there are a lot of events in the city this week, from comedy to film. This week, we will also be observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Friday. Here are things to do in Edmonton this week.

EDMONTON COMEDY FESTIVAL

Get ready to laugh, Edmonton! This week, we have four days of funny coming up from September 28th to October 1st, and they feature comedians from across North America performing on stages throughout Edmonton.

PUMPKINS AFTER DARK

Are you ready for Halloween season? If not, we’ve got Pumpkins After Dark to look forward to later in September to get you ready for spooky season! For over an entire month, you can enjoy thousands of hand-carved pumpkins in a beautiful setting.

DAY OF TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION IN PERSON ART ACTIVITY

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. And to help commemorate the day, Edmonton’s most popular Indigenous artist, Lance Cardinal of the Bigstone Cree Nation, is hosting an Indigenous Art Adventure LIVE workshop. There are other dates and times available as well.

ORANGE SHIRT DAY RUN/WALK

On the National Truth and Reconciliation Day this year, walk or run to raise funds for Orangeshirtday.org, Bear Clan Patrol YEG and Indigenous Youth Sports Scholarships.

THE RURAL ALBERTA ADVANTAGE

They don’t even go here!!! Regardless, this band (formed in Toronto) is well worth checking out this week, as kind of a kiss goodbye to summer and a kiss hello to the fall.

GATEWAY TO THE STARS

If you weren’t aware, Elk Island is in the heart of one of Canada’s largest ‘dark sky preserves‘. The ‘Gateway to the Stars’ experience returns to Elk Island, with a night this Friday.

AN EVENING WITH MONICA LEWINSKY

Presented by Edmonton Community Foundation, the event states that Monika Lewinsky “will address topics of survival, resilience, digital reputation and equality.” According to the Edmonton Public Library, all proceeds from ticket sales go to supporting the Ready. Set. READ! program.

BIERMEISTER’S DINNER
