It’s been a minute since Seattle has had a ranking. And today we’re back with one that’s extra fun because it’s about baby names! Last Thursday The U.S. Social Security Administration released its yearly list showing the top baby names in each state. Any guesses for Washington beforehand? Let’s get into it.

In 2020 the top 10 baby names for girls in order were Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Amelia, Sophia, Evelyn, Ava, Mia, Hazel, and Isabella. When it comes to boys they were Oliver, Liam, Noah, Benjamin, Henry, Elijah, Theodore, William, Lucas, and Alexander. Clearly, Washington is going to have a lot of Oli’s!

It turns out that 428 babies born in Washington were named Oliver and 422 were named Olivia in 2020. And it looks like the name is probably here to stay because Olivia was the Washington winner last year as well. When it comes to boy’s names, Oliver barely beat the previous winner, Liam.

Now we’re pretty curious to see what happens next year. Do you think it’ll be about the same? Or do you think some new names will come in and surprise everyone? We’re kind of hoping to see people get a little more creative with the naming process. Regardless, shout out to all of the Olivia’s and Oliver’s out there and if you happen to have either of those names, give yourself a pat on the back. You can check out more here.
