If you’re hoping to wake up to fresh snow outside of your window on Christmas morning, you might be in luck! The Weather Network has released its Holiday Snow Report and it looks like the majority of us Canadians will get a nice heaping of snow this Christmas.

The report says that while all of Canada is in for frosty temperatures through Christmas and beyond, a third of the population may not see any snowflakes at all over the holidays.

“Whether it’s a white or green Christmas will come right down to the wire, and depend on how some particular details shape up in the leadup to the day,” says The Weather Network.

Although, there are more than a few cities where the chances of a white Christmas are 100%, including Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Prince George, Yellowknife, and Whitehorse.

Other cities have a high chance of snow on Christmas, including Calgary, Ottawa, Kelowna, Regina, Winnipeg, Montreal, Thunder Bay, and Timmins.

Some places only have a medium chance of a white Christmas. These include Toronto, Vancouver, St. John’s, and Fredricton.

Only two cities have a low chance of snowfall over the holidays — Victoria and Halifax.

The Weather Network says that the odds of a white Christmas in B.C. are higher than normal this year as colder than normal temperatures set in, but it’s hard to know for sure at this point.

Southern Ontario is in for a fresh bout of snow this coming weekend, but it may melt in most regions come Christmastime. Otherwise, cities like Timmins and Ottawa will fare better as temperatures will be cold enough to keep the snow from melting.

Not much is certain about what Christmas will look like this year, but at least some of us can look forward to a 100% chance of snowball fights.
