Whoever came up with the concept of brunch deserves a raise. Seriously. Bringing together the best of both sweet and savoury worlds, so you Libras out there won’t ever need to make up your mind, brunch is arguably the greatest meal of the week. Not to mention it quite literally gives you an eggs-scuse for sleeping in late. You gotta eat later if you’re only having 2 meals a day, duh!

So if you’re a brunch enthusiast, you’re in for a treat! The Bro’Kin Yolk is now open in Edmonton, after opening not 1 but 3 waitlist-inducing locations in Calgary.

But first thing first, we had to ask the burning question. Why the name “The Bro’Kin Yolk”? And here’s the answer we got from Jeff and Gil Carlos, founders of The Bro’Kin Yolk.

  • The Bro(s) – Yeah you guessed it, Jeff and Gil Carlos are brothers, and they decided to combine over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry to bring forward their own conception of a family business.
  • Kin – The ultimate goal is to make you (and your guests)  feel at home. From customers to staff, to partners and suppliers, everyone is treated, like family.
  • Yolk – The shining star on the menu. It also happens to be Organic, Omega 3, and Free Range from Countryside Farms. It doesn’t get more orange than that.

Now let’s dive into what you’ve been waiting for all this time. The menu! Bro’kin Yolk is serving a Filipino-inspired breakfast and lunch menu, all supplied from local businesses. They are serious about bringing the farm to your table.

Alongside gourmet Bennies served on homemade Belgian Waffles with a side of duck fat hash and traditional farmer’s breakfast boasting 3 farmed fresh eggs, hides Jeff & Gil’s personal favourite dish when growing up!

The Bro’s Breakfast is served on a base of jasmine rice (we told you about their Filipino heritage right?) on top of which you get 2 sunny-side-up eggs, topped with homemade salsa, and pork belly adobo.  They also have bacon that is cured in-house giving you true Filipino flavours! We swear that’s what got us hooked on initially!

And if that’s not enough for your appetite, you can pick up an additional serving of their house special bacon & waffles to-go from the retail section! Add some heat to those babies and you’ve got yourself a delicious meal, ready at home.

We definitely recommend you take a look at their extensive menu and get on their waitlist to guarantee yourself a table. Don’t blame us for not telling you the wait is up to 3 hours during weekend peaks!

Now should we leave you with another egg pun before you go? No? Then have an eggsquisite brunch time!
