Let’s be real, when we were younger we all thought that 2021 would look like floating cars, hoverboards, and silver pants, but nope, instead, we got the iPhone and 3D printers. Now, while those things are very useful and incredibly innovative, we still long for something… bigger, like a space hotel or something. Of course, this sounds impossible, right?
What if we told you that it wasn’t? What if we said that our idyllic version of the ‘future’ could be well on its way and that we might only have to wait 6 more years to really see it?
For the first time, we actually feel like we’re headed leaps and bounds forward, because construction company Orbital Assembly Corporation, has begun building the ‘Voyager Station,’ a luxury space hotel set to open in 2027.
According to their website, the Voyager has been “designed to accommodate business, manufacturing, national space agencies conducting low gravity research, and space tourists who want to experience life on a large space station with the comfort of low gravity and the feel of a luxury hotel.”
Weighing over 2,418 metric tons, this intergalactic resort is said to be able to accommodate 280 guests, will require 112 crew members and have all the amenities that a nice hotel might have like restaurants bars, a gym, and common areas.
Unfortunately, as you can imagine you’ll probably need some serious cheddar if you want to visit the Voyager for yourself. Room rates haven’t been finalized, but we can expect them to be well over $250,000, which is what American spaceflight company, Virgin Galactic said that they would charge per person to board their spacecraft.
For more information on how exactly the Voyager Station is being built, to reserve your spot or just to look at more photos, check out their official website here and enjoy, because this? This is the kind of news a lot of us have been waiting for.
