When you think of GRETA, you probably think of arcade games, dancing, and a heck a lot of cocktails. Sure, over the last two years, it’s undoubtedly become one of Calgary’s hottest nightlife spots. Now, GRETA is the only spot downtown where you can roam freely, as long as you’re wearing a mask and following physical distancing rules. That means you can come and go from the arcade games as you please, making a trip to GRETA feel as close to pre-COVID life as possible.
But, let’s take a minute for some serious food appreciation because GRETA just launched their new menu and it is bomb. GRETA’s always been known for its locally sourced ingredients, and freshly made street food eats, served out of a food truck at the back of the bar. The Chicken Nuggets, GRETA Burger, Arancini Cheese Balls, and Ginger Beef Bao Buns have served us well- and don’t stress, they’re not going anywhere. But, they’ve given the menu a glow-up with refined flavours taking street eats to heights that Calgary has never seen.
Alright, so here’s the scoop on our picks from the new menu that you can’t skip on.
Move over Colonel, because this chicken is finger lickin’ good. The buttermilk batter gives it a seriously satisfying ASMR-style crunch, and the pickle brine gives the tender-AF chicken a unique salty flavour.
These citrus braised ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, and flavoured with mountain oregano, and finished with house-made tzatziki.
These tacos are so good that we officially make every day Taco Tuesday, just so we can eat these on the daily, guilt-free. Hoisin BBQ sauce, pickled daikon, carrots, and radicchio slaw make these pork tacos addictive to say the least.
If you’re a fan of salty, sweet, tangy, spicy combos, then this is the dish for you. Served with charred broccolini, creamy yam mash, and jerk butter, you’ll be fuelled up to take down opponents in Mario Kart afterward.
Chef Marc will gladly let you know that eating shishito peppers is like playing Russian roulette with spice, and boy oh boy is it worth it. These pack a punch of flavour, and are perfect to snack on with an ice-cold beer.
The fact that steak sandwiches aren’t always slathered in Raclette cheese is a crime, but GRETA’s got our back. So prepare to be taken to flavortown, ‘cause even Guy Fieri would approve of this dish.
Crispy, crunchy, and coated in an ooey, gooey, housemade sauce. With gochujang giving it some heat, ginger giving it some tang, and honey giving it some sweet, your tastebuds will forever be grateful for this dish.
So, (chef’s) hat off to GRETA for blessing us with a new menu that’s packed with flavour without breaking the bank. Hold on though folks, we’re not done yet.
GRETA has introduced some new handcrafted cocktails to the menu like the Green Tea Mojito and Marmalade Whiskey Sour, but there’s a drink in particular that we’re especially pumped about. Drumroll please, GRETA presents Shaft on Draft from Banff’s PARK Distillery. Oh, and they’re only $5 for the month of November!
Speaking of deals, we can’t ignore GRETA’s daily specials and happy hour offerings. So here’s the scoop.
Well, we’ve given you all the info, and now it’s up to you to take advantage of all these amazing deals & offerings. We’ll see you there!
