Pumpkin season is around the corner, and the popular Downey’s Farm is gearing up for its annual fall event after it was cut short in 2020. The farm told Curiocity that their signature “sea of orange pumpkins” will be making a comeback in September for Pumpkinfest, along with many other fall-themed activities.

In addition to the 10,000 pumpkins on display, Downey’s Farm will have a corn maze, farm animals, wagon rides, live entertainment, jumping pillows, a skeleton band, and more, so you can load up on everything you love during Ontario’s prettiest season. Downeys’ pumpkin donuts are made fresh on-site and they even have pumpkin donut ice cream sandwiches, so be sure to bring your appetite.

Last year, Downey’s Farm made the decision to remove its sprawling pumpkin display for the first time in 30 years in order to prevent crowds amid COVID-19 restrictions.

This year, Pumpkinfest will run from September 18th to October 31st from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Downey’s Farm will be releasing more details about the event on their website within the next week.

Right now, the sunflower field remains open at the farm, and thanks to the gorgeous summer weather we’ve had so far, apple picking season is starting early. Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm is now open for picking if you’re ready to get a head start on autumn activities.

There are so many ways to embrace the season’s beauty in Ontario. You can take a heritage steam train ride through a valley of fall leaves just outside of Toronto, and then make your way to Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland.
