Alright, Calgary, it’s been a journey with this particular event, but we think (and hope) that this decision will stick. After much back and forth, deliberation and confusion, The Calgary Comic Expo has announced that they will be going ahead with this year’s event and ticket sales actually go live next week!

Despite the trials and tribulations of COVID-19, the CCE has been extremely hopeful, open and up-front with fans of the pop-culture extravaganza, keeping them updated every step of the way.

Described as ‘limited edition,’ this year’s expo will look a tad different than those previous, with smaller crowds, a special day devoted to our health care heroes and enhanced safety measures.

It all kicks off on September 10th, with complimentary admission to anyone with a valid AHS work ID, and continues on into the weekend with Calgarians able to hit the BMO just as they have in the past for a celebration of fiction, art and community.

From shopping and their cosplay red carpet to celebrity creators and guests, CCE will feature everything that you’ve come to love and appreciate about the event, just with some new guidelines including masks, sanitizer stations and a limited capacity.

“We understand the only way any of this happens is if we all strictly observe and deeply respect the restrictions and recommendations made by public health authorities,” said Andrew Moyes, FAN EXPO HQ Vice President. “We’re actively developing and continually revising our health and safety plans as the situation evolves and feel confident participants will clearly understand what to expect when they received our plan in early August. There will be no surprises, and lots of time to adjust as needed.”

If you’re interested in attending, we would definitely recommend reserving your spot when tickets go on sale Tuesday, June 22nd, because as per AHS, only 25,000 people will be able to attend.
