Yes Chef! These are “The Bear” star & Canadian Chef Matty Matheson’s Toronto restaurants

“The Bear” is taking award season by storm and is nominated for a whopping 13 awards at the 75th Emmys, which airs on the evening of Monday, January 15th. One of the show’s stars and culinary producers is Canadian Chef Matty Matheson – and he has several restaurants in Toronto serving up everything from delicious tacos and mouth-watering burgers to Michelin Guide meals!

Matty’s Pattys

You can find this burger joint by Matty Matheson on almost every list of best burgers in the city – and along Queen Street West! Matty’s Mattys serves the classics – burgers, fries, onion rings, poutine and more. There are even burger choices for vegetarians with Impossible burgers on the menu!

Maker Pizza

No one does food staples quite like Matty Matheson and his pizza spot Maker Pizza is proof of that. Maker has been around since 2015 and is now a household name in the city when it comes to grabbing some za’. There are multiple locations all over the city so if you haven’t tried Maker yet, get on it!

Fonda Balam

Located at the corner of Dundas West and Palmerston Fonda Balam started out as a summer birria pop-up by Matty Matheson and chefs Kate Chomyshyn and Julio Guajardo but is now a thriving spot for authentic Mexican eats. If the long list of tacos wasn’t convincing enough, Fonda Balam earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand Award meaning it is a must-try!

Cà Phê Rang

Cà Phê Rang features Vietnamese favourites such as bánh mì and pho and was started by Matty and his chef mentor/close friend, Rang Nguyen! You can find this spot right on Spadina, just south of Queen.

Prime Seafood Palace

Matty’s newest restaurant in the city opened its doors in 2022. Prime Seafood Palace is a true culinary experience and is also a Toronto Michelin Guide restaurant! Caviar, Tuna Tartare, Prime Rib, A5 Wagyu and Norfolk Tomahawk and just some of the incredible choices on this menu and the beautiful interior is an experience all on its own!
