Out and about? Stay alert, Calgary! Not only has the cast of HBO’s The Last of Us been spotted in and around the city several times since they began filming in July, but now, so has your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman, Andrew Garfield – who is also in town to shoot an adaption of the true-crime novel, Under The Banner of Heaven, by Jon Krakauer.
Directed by Ron Howard, and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones (and Garfield, of course), Under the Banner of Heaven, is based on the 1984 real-life tragedy of Brenda Lafferty, who was murdered along with her infant daughter after her stepbrothers claimed God had told them to do so.
A story of polygamy, delusion and nonsensical violence; the FX series will follow on Pyre (Garfield) an elder of The Church of Latter-day Saints (LDS) who begins to question his faith after an encounter with Ron and Dan Lafferty – the men responsible.

Pictured smiling alongside an employee, Garfield was seen grabbing a sweet treat from popular Calgary shop, Beebop Donut over the weekend before getting down to business, Today, August 16th which was said to be the first day the crew was expected on set.
Obviously, we can’t predict if and when he, or anyone else, will be seen again between now and when they wrap things up in December, but it could very well happen, friends – and if it does, let us remind you of one very important thing.
Be respectful!
We know that this is an incredibly exciting time, but stars are people too… and man, do we want to make a good impression. So – while we do recommend you keep your eyes wide open, remain kind, don’t go shoving your camera into their face and stay cool if they don’t want to take a photo with you.
We’ve got a pretty wicked opportunity here to keep ’em coming, Calgary. Let’s make it happen!
