If you’re ready for the experience of a lifetime, then we may have found the perfect option for you. Turns out, a company based in Campbell River has helicopter tours that let you paddleboard on some stunning BC glaciers. Nope, we’re not joking, this is a real option.

For the past couple of years, the company Island Life Expeditions has been teaming up with 49 North Helicopters to offer the tours. Lasting the better part of a day, the tour kicks off with a 30-minute long helicopter ride that will take you into BC’s Coast Mountain range, which is back on the mainland.

Once you’re deep in the mountains (the actual lakes are kept secret from the public) you and the guide will disembark for the truly memorable part of the trip. That’s because, for the next 3 hours or so, you’ll be hiking around and paddle-boarding on glacier lakes, or even on the glaciers themselves! Seriously, this is something that most outdoors enthusiasts could only dream of, and it would take days to prepare for and actually get to.

And of course, that convenience comes with a serious price tag. The heli-paddle experience will set you back around $1590 per person, which is around triple the price of a regular helicopter tour and an order of magnitude more than a simple paddleboard rental. But of course, putting the two together is where things get pricey. Especially since you don’t want to be messing around on glaciers without a guide, let alone while on a paddleboard.

The tours run every summer, and you can book a spot right now if you’ve got the dough. As for us? Well, let’s just say we’re putting it on our wishlist for next year due to budget constraints. Tag us in your Instagram pics, though!
