Calgary bars you should go to depending on your Taylor Swift era

Well, Calgary, Taylor Swift is closing out The Eras Tour, but the memories we’ve made along the way will last a lifetime!

Even if you didn’t get to see the show, you’ve likely watched a grainy live stream, the concert film, or dreamed up a tour fit and the excitement we felt in the theatre, a stadium, or while scrolling TikTok should be celebrated.. with a drink in our hand!

This last year has been an “Enchanted” one, so, with only a few shows left, here is the bar you should visit this weekend based on your favourite era.

Taylor Swift

Spanky’s Saloon

Located on what was once Calgary’s famous ‘Electric Avenue,’ Spanky’s Saloon is a Nashville-inspired honkey-tonk dive bar with live music and cold drinks.

You won’t find teardrops on anyone’s guitar here, but you will have a ton of fun!

Where: 219 10 Ave SW, Calgary, AB

Fearless

Whiskey Rose Saloon

Wanna dance in your best (jean) dress? Whiskey Rose is the place! With daily specials, live music, and ‘Nashville Nights,’ It really doesn’t get better than this.

Bring your friends, have a few drinks, and leave feeling like you just had “The Best Day.”

Where: 1012 17 Ave SW, Calgary, AB

Speak Now

Untitled

An “Enchanted” champagne bar with chandeliers, romantic cocktails, and sophisticated decor.

Untitled is located on 8th Avenue and has that “Electric Touch.”

Where: 104, 620 8th Ave SW, Calgary, AB

Red

Betty Lous Library

Betty Lous Library is moody, warm, and bathed in red lights. Enter through the bookcase and “Stay, Stay, Stay” for jazz musicians, a burlesque show or good conversation with a bartender.

We know “All Too Well” you’ll have a good time!

Where: The Devenish Building, 908 17 Ave SW, Calgary

1989

Major Tom

40 floors above it all, Major Tom has major “Welcome to New York” energy.

Named among Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants for 2024, this beautiful destination is not to be missed.

Where: 40th floor, Stephen Avenue Place, 700-2 Street SW, Calgary

Lover

Rooftop

Bright, colourful, and full of life! Rooftop is currently decorated for the holidays, but it’ll still feel like you’re in the midst of a “Cruel Summer.”

You definitely have to check out Calgary’s largest climate-controlled rooftop patio if you’re in your ‘Lover’ era.

Where: 414 3rd Street SW, Calgary

Reputation

Charlie’s Watch Repair

Pre-order your “Getaway Car.” Charlie’s Watch Repair, which is hidden inside Salt and Brick, is ambient and mysterious, but still romantic.

Much like our favourite album, Reputation. Are you ready for it?

Where: 211 10 Ave SW, Calgary, AB

Folklore and Evermore

Prickett Richard

The sister albums make us feel like we’re being wrapped in a wool coat, and so does Prickett Richard—a sophisticated speakeasy, with low lights and a carefully curated menu.

Sit on the back side of the bar and no one will see you cry while you think about all of your “Champagne Problems.”

Where: 38 17 Ave SW #1, Calgary, AB

Midnights

The Wednesday Room

Described as being ‘reminiscent of a sophisticated 60’s lounge and your uncle’s eclectic basement,’ The Wednesday Room is retro, moody, and warm.

Check it out, have a few drinks, and lose yourself in a “Lavender Haze.”

Where: 118 8 Ave SW #100, Calgary, AB

The Tortured Poets Department

Fine Print

Located in an old brick and sandstone building originally occupied by the Calgary Herald newspaper, Fine Print is a beautiful restaurant with incredible cocktails that would fit well within the TTPD universe.

Don’t wait a “Fortnight” to check this place out!

Where: 113 8 Ave SW, Calgary, AB

And there you have it, Calgary, iconic Taylor Swift albums and the bar that we think you should check out based on your favourite. Let us know where you’ll be going first and enjoy!

You’re in for some fun!
