Hold onto your hats, skiers and snowboarders, because Grouse Mountain is about to welcome its new highly-anticipated gondola ride, and they’re celebrating with a mountaintop party next week!
Set to open on Thursday, Dec. 12, the new state-of-the-art gondola features a total of 14 towers and 27 eight-person gondola cabins – with a trip time of just five and a half minutes, according to Grouse.
In the works for over two years, to say that the new ride is an exciting new way to experience Grouse is an understatement!
“The installation of the new gondola is the latest development at Grouse Mountain Resort that will significantly enhance our guest experience by reducing lineups and wait times to access and egress the Mountain,” says Michael Cameron, President Grouse Mountain Resort. “It marks the start of a new chapter for Grouse as we approach our centennial in 2026.”
On Dec. 12, the mountain is celebrating the new lift with live DJs at its enchanting Mountaintop Skating Pond, as well as a dazzling firework display.
This will come after the official ribbon cutting at 4 p.m., which is open to the public.
Live music will echo the mountain from 5 to 7 p.m., with a grand firework finale at 6:15 p.m.
To sweeten the pot even further, Grouse is pouring free hot cocoa and apple cider at the base ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Mountaintop Skating Pond will have specials at Lupins Cafe, including $5 foot-long hot dogs, $3 kids pizzas, $15 handheld combos, and $6 select beers.
Note that Altitudes will be closed on Dec. 12 for a private event, reopening to guests starting at 7:30 pm with a selection of appies and burgers.
Ready to head to the mountaintop? Mark your calendars and get ready to enjoy a new ride up!
