It’s been a long time coming but… after months of waiting and watching cities around the globe get initial and additional dates, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has officially joined fans in their fight to bring Taylor Swift to Canada.

Hours after the singer took to Twitter to announce 14 more dates ahead of the international leg of The Eras Tour, Trudeau took to the platform with a few references, a plea and some positivity.

“It’s me, hi,” he wrote. “I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.”

This of course isn’t the first time that Maple Swifties have had a politician step in.

In June, Edmonton MP Matt Jeneroux, filed an official grievance with the House of Commons, stating that not only was the singer “leaving Canadian fans without the opportunity to see her tour, but it is also leaving Canada out of the economic opportunities her shows generate.”

With an estimated $4.6 billion generated for local economies in the states, we can only assume the hope is that fans will come, spend money, visit the cities and come back – a win, win, win for everyone involved… especially concertgoers.

As of right now, it’s unclear if this is the reason the PM asked the singer to head north – but we’re glad he did.

Here’s to hoping the Mastermind will Speak Now and give Canadian fans what they desperately want… no more Bad Blood l their favourite artist.
