However, if you’re simply looking for a day trip experience, escaping this summer heat, you want to go for a swim at one of the provinces largest swimming pools. Not to be confused with Byng Island Conservation Area’s pool, which is the largest in Canada. This one is a supervised, 1.2-acre pool which is ideal for children. There’s a splash pad area and a large deck that is perfect for lounging, according to Grand River Conservation Authority.

Pack some lunch and enjoy a break on one of the picnic tables.

According to the conservation authority, no floaties, puddle, jumpers or water wings are allowed in the pool.

Those who need lifejackets can borrow some at the pool and gate house. It’s important to know that these are for pool use only and must not leave the pool area. Swimmers can purchase pool wristbands for $2.75 each at the front gate or at the lifeguard house when the pool opens

“For your safety, the pool will be closed if there is lightning, thunder or heavy rainfall. The pool will remain closed until staff see the last bolt of lightning or hear the last sound of thunder,” shares Grand River.

“Refunds will not be issued if you choose to leave due to light rain or cool weather.”

There is a capacity limit at the pool so for real-time pool capacity information, check out the Conservation Area and Activity Status page.

The pool is open until Labour Day from 11 AM to 7:30 PM seven days a week.
