Ontario's ‘largest outdoor pool’ is officially open for the season & here's what to know

Ontario is home to the largest outdoor pool in Canada. You’ll find this massive swimming pool at Byng Island Conservation Area, and it’s only a short drive from Toronto.
You’ll have to embark on a 90-minute drive outside of Toronto to find this conservation area.
According to the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), Byng Island Conservation Area is now open for the season, and its outdoor pool is too! It’s time to start planning your summer adventures.
What to do at Byng Island
Byng Island provides access to the Grand River and Lake Erie for paddling, fishing, and sailing, according to its site.
It spans across 190 hectares and is made up of Carolinian forests, wetlands, and creeks, shares the GRCA.
But one of the area’s biggest highlights is its outdoor swimming pool.
Massive pool
It is two acres in size and can hold up to 1,000 people. And it even has a diving board!
For visitors aged four and older, a wristband is required for entry and costs $2.75.
Given the popularity of this pool, it may reach capacity, especially on hot summer days. You can check real-time capacity updates online before you visit.
According to its official site, the pool is open now until Labour Day. The GRCA told Curiocity that at the moment, the pool is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Starting July 1, the pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. seven days a week.
Though summer isn’t here JUST yet, it sure does feel like it!
