The doom and gloom of Seattle’s overcast and now foggy winters get old very quickly. Luckily brighter days are ahead. In fact, a post 5 pm sunset is now the norm in Seattle and that means the worst of winter is on its way out.
As of today, January 27th, Seattleites will get 9 hours and 21 minutes of daylight according to timeanddate.com. That means shining sun from 7:41 am-5:03 pm and while the sun might only be setting 3 minutes after 5, every minute counts. Not only that but the last time the sunset after 5 pm was November 6th. So we are well deserving of a later sunset.

Before you know it, the sun will be setting at 5:30 pm, 6 pm, 6:30 pm and then spring will be in full swing. If that’s still too hard to think about, we’re only 6 weeks away from sunsets after 7 pm. So hang in there, there’s hope, spring always comes and our beautiful spring and summer weather will be back before you know it.
Until then you can relax at home, check out some new Netflix additions, pick up a new book, or if you have the time get out of town for a little adventure. Have a great rest of your week, Seattle.
