Whether you want to explore the great outdoors, shop, dine or simply get out of the house and enjoy the sun, we have some ideas for you. Here are 7 exciting summer day trips near Seattle!

Scenic boardwalks to check out in Washington this summer
It’s quaint, the drive is stunning and there is so much to do and see along the way. Cruise down Chuckanut Drive for views of Bellingham Bay and stop at Taylor Shellfish Farms for a taste of some of Washington’s best oysters. Visit towns on the way like Bow-Edison and check out what local artists have to offer. And at the end, you’ll end up in Bellingham where you can shop, dine and relax. Be sure to visit Boulevard Park.

There’s a reason Port Townsend was named “Best Worldwide Travel Destination” last year. The town is steeped in fascinating history, and has two National Historic Landmark Districts. It has outdoor adventures from beaches to Olympic National Park, not to mention its local restaurants that serve up cuisines from all over the world.

There’s nothing quite like heading to the islands if you’re looking for day trips near Seattle. You can choose from a quick and easy trip to Bainbridge or a bit of a longer journey to one of the San Juan Islands. From shopping to dining to hiking and more, all of the islands have their special charms. Of course one of the best parts about heading out to the islands is the stunning ferry ride – be sure to plan ahead for longer wait times.

Gig Harbor is located along the southwest part of Puget Sound and is neighbours with Tacoma. It’s a place of “captivating beauty” and “uncommon splendor” filled with watercraft of all shapes and sizes, beautiful historic homes and businesses. All of which has the towering presence of Mount Rainier in the distance.
Distance: Under 1 hr
Ok perhaps a longer drive, but the beaches in Westport are worth it. Bring your surfboard, as Westhaven State Park is a popular destination for surfers. Westport’s Fishermans Boardwalk is a great place to check out sights of the marina. You can of course also just stroll the beach and climb the nearby lighthouse if you feel up to climbing some stairs.

We can always find a reason to head out to Bow-Edison. This beautiful little town is right in the middle of the Skagit Valley and has restaurants, galleries, shops, and more. If you’re looking to see a new town, this is the perfect place to do just that. Plus you get a super scenic drive.
Distance: 1 hour and 25 mins
While its known for its beautiful winters, Leavenworth is an epic summer destination. You can hike trails, raft the Wenatchee River, or go paddle boarding with serene mountain views. Or just go for a walk and check out the town’s shops and restaurants.
