This Ontario small town has sandy beaches & beautiful waterfront trails

We love a little town on the water! Arnprior is situated at the meeting point of the Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers which means there’s some beautiful waterfront to enjoy. Whether you want to stroll the waterfront trails or hang out at the beach, Arnprior is a must-visit this summer.

Arnprior has two beaches located at Robert Simpson Park and McLean Park.

Robert Simpson Park Beach boasts over 275 feet of beachfront, a splash pad, AccessMat (accessible beach bat) and WaterWheels (accessible beach and water chair).

Don’t forget to pack snacks as there is a picnic area to enjoy, too.

The second beach is McLean Park Beach. While this sandy spot doesn’t have accessible beach features it does have washroom facilities and a picnic area to use!

There are a handful of trails to stroll in Arnprior but the Mclaclin Trail will give you views of both of the rivers that surround the town.

Start along the Madawaska River where you’ll eventually get a magnificent view of the confluence of the two rivers at Bell Park, then enjoy a view of the Ottawa River at McLean Beach!

Oh, did we mention Arnprior is home to Ontario’s tallest tree?

According to the town’s website, “It is a 47 metres tall Eastern White Pine which is taller than a 13-story building.”

You can find it located within Gillies Grove, one of the last old-growth forests in Ontario!

Arnprior awaits, Ontario!
