A new Miami-inspired boutique motel in Ontario is just steps from the beach

In-Canada travel is on the rise, and this new boutique motel in Ontario is making it an easy decision to stay in the province. South Beach is a brand-new beach motel resort, tucked by the stores of Lake Huron in Southampton. The Miami-inspired spot is the perfect destination for a getaway and is open to the public and open for reservations as of today, April 24, 2025.

The newly renovated motel features 12 suites and is the sister establishment of the popular destination, The Beach Motel.

South Beach has its own feel, though. Guests can enjoy rooms with lots of space, private kitchenettes and even a shared courtyard for lawn games and lounging.

“South Beach is unlike anything else in the area,” says owner Dane Buttenaar.

“It takes everything guests love about The Beach Motel — the location, the elevated touches and custom design, the escapism — and combines it with larger rooms and more family-focused stays. Add to that a totally retro design, and you get South Beach: a little slice of Miami Vice right here in Southwestern Ontario,” Buttenaar continues.

When it comes to bringing a place like this to life, making it comfortable, and also Instagrammable, you need the right person for the job, and South Beach found just that.

Interior design firm Twenty-Two Twelve took on the project. The business is owned and operated by sisters Haley McDonough and Jillian Smith-Moher, who brought Dane and Samantha Buttenaar’s vision of funky colours, cool designs, and a retro feel to life.

Yep, this stellar destination fits the bill, whether it’s for a girls’ weekend, family trip or a romantic getaway.

Guests of South Beach can also access the amenities at sister spot, The Beach Motel. Some of those amenities include chowing down on a yummy tapas-style dinner at the new Mirasol Restaurant or booking time in the “Spahhh” for treatments like the Swedish massage or deep tissue massage.

There’s also a rooftop to relax on that’s perfect for sippin’ drinks.
