You don’t always need company to enjoy a delicious meal out. Sometimes, dining solo can fill your cup in more ways than one, and we’re here to share some great spots to do just that. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Vancouver is one of the best cities in Canada for eating at a table for one. So prepare for a mix of our fave solo date spots and ones selected by OpenTable.

Whether you pop in for a drink at the bar or enjoy some sushi in one of their cozy lounge chairs, you have plenty of options for solo dining at the Lobby Lounge at the Fairmont Pac Rim.
And if you head upstairs to extend your visit, you can easily enjoy a meal solo at Botanist, which even has an option on the menu called “We’ll Take It From Here” that allows indecisive diners to indulge in a full meal plus optional wine pairings.

For a more intimate, cozy setting, head to Mercato di Luigi, which operates as a one-stop shop for groceries, fresh pasta, and espresso. With pasta lunches that change every day, you can bet there’s always something exciting and new to taste.

If Vietnamese cuisine is calling out to you, you can do no better than The Lunch Lady on Commercial. World-famous for its delicious Vietnamese street fare, this spot might just become your new fave in a heartbeat.

Known for their aburi-style sushi, Miku is the place to treat yourself to an elevated solo date.

You might not immediately think of solo dining when it comes to Yaletown, but Dovetail is here to prove you wrong. Delicious shareable plates of pasta, salad, and other Italian-inspired fare might be the game here, but they’re just as easily enjoyable by one – paired with a glass of wine or refreshing cocktail or mocktail!

Here’s a fun spot for tasty vegan fare! Mexican-Japanese fusion restaurant Miso Taco is a great place to pop into on Cambie for a relaxed meal after work or on the weekend.

You really can’t do much better than a cocktail or coffee from this cozy Commercial Drive hangout spot, which is perfect for small groups or the solo diner out on their covered patio bar, or indoors on one of their sofa chairs.

For what is primarily a bakery, Livia’s range of housemade pasta is above and beyond anything you could imagine. Its picturesque space and comfy booth seating make it a great place to stop by for a quick treat, or stay in for a lovely meal for one.

Now we come to the quintessential Vancouver ramen spot, best known for its rich shoyu broth and array of seating options. Whether you’re going in a small group or dining solo, there are plenty of ways to enjoy your favourite bowl of ramen here.

If paella is your favourite food, Casa Molina is a must-visit. Situated in a charming character house formerly occupied by Mangia Cucina & Bar, the lovely spot serves up authentic Spanish dishes by Chef Javier Blanc of Paella Guys, and the bar seating is perfect for a solo meal out.
Where: 2211 Manitoba Street
Situated in the heart of Gastown is La Casita, AKA some of the best authentic Mexican food north of the Rio Grande. From the popular Steak Tampiquena to tasty flautas, tostadas, burritos, Chiles Rellenos, ceviche, and chimichangas – the only problem you’ll have is choosing what to eat.

If you’re more in the mood for sushi, you can’t go wrong at Green Leaf. The tasty spot serves up mouthwatering aburi-style sushi at a lower price point than some of the sushi giants of downtown, plus the space is a comfortable place to unwind after a long work day.
