Alberta is not known for its beaches – but that doesn’t mean we’re lacking. In fact, we’ve got a few summery spots that rival some of Canada’s best, we just don’t brag about them – often.
For those who enjoy the waves, soft sand and some quiet time – pack your cooler for a weekend at the Boardwalk Beach along the shores of Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park – a serene destination 2 hours and 40 minutes northeast of Edmonton.

Whether you stay in their campsite (please note the current fire ban) or day-use area, guests are encouraged to enjoy everything this spot has to offer, including some out-of-water activities like hiking, biking and birdwatching – but don’t hesitate, especially if you plan on spending the night!

The books at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park fill up quickly and the campground is operational until October 10th which only seems like plenty of time until it’s not.
After all, you know what they say! Time flies when you’re having fun, and this summer is already shaping up to be one for the books!
