Here’s how getting your licence & health card will be easier in Ontario next year

A trip to ServiceOntario can be pretty inconvenient – but now The Government of Ontario is making it easier for Ontarians to access vital services like drivers licenses and health cards.

Kicking off at the start of 2024, ServiceOntario is opening new centres in select Staples Canada stores with additional locations expected to open throughout the year all over the province.

The partnership between the government and Staples Canada hopes to provide a place for Ontario residents to access services where they already live, work and shop.

“ServiceOntario is a critical link in helping people access important government services,” said Todd McCarthy, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery.

“We are working to make it easier to live and work in Ontario, with in-person access as a fundamental component of excellent service delivery. That is why we are partnering with Staples Canada, an experienced retailer with a strong presence in Ontario.”

ServiceOntario is adding additional initiatives to improve service delivery, including:

  • For eligible residents who may find it difficult to visit ServiceOntario to renew their health card, a live virtual appointment will offer the same level of service as the in-person experience, right from the comfort of home.
  • To help meet increasing demand, eight of the busiest ServiceOntario centres in the Greater Toronto Area will offer health card services for work permit holders and their accompanying family.

So if you’re looking to check off multiple things on your to-do list in 2024, looks like you’re covered!
