With all of our spring-centric lists, you’ve probably seen the Kubota Garden mentioned a few times. And if you’ve lived in the city a while hopefully you’ve taken the time to go and visit it. But if not and you’re completely unfamiliar with the history of the garden, there’s actually a documentary that you can watch!
The documentary is called “Fujitaro Kubota and his garden”. And it follows the life of the garden’s creator, Fujitaro Kubota. While Kubota’s life was deeply rich and full of ups and downs, the documentary mostly focuses on the start of the garden. That being said, it’s a fascinating watch and a great way to learn about local Japanese American history.

Plus the documentary is free to watch and is probably a lot more unique than anything you’ll see on Netflix this week. So if you happen to have a green thumb and want to know more about PNW history “Fujitaro Kubota and his garden” is for you.
