Attention, movie lovers. A new production starring Ryan Reynolds is on the horizon, in what The Hollywood Reporter is describing as a “boy band reunion movie.” Does this mean Reynolds will grace our screens with frosted tips and a tracksuit? One can only hope!

While it’s still unclear what role the Vancouver native will take onscreen, it’s not the only area he’ll be involved in. Offscreen, he’ll produce the comedy, titled Boy Band, via his Paramount-based venture Maximum Effort. And if scheduling works out, he’ll be joined by frequent collaborator and fellow Canadian talent Shawn Levy.

What’s more, THR reveals that Reynolds originated the story itself, which he co-wrote with Jesse Andrews – the screenwriter behind Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Luca.

While it’s still a little early for much of the details surrounding characters and plot, we think it’s safe to say that this movie will be highly anticipated.

According to THR, Reynolds is hoping to film Boy Band this fall or early 2024. And if Reynolds’ musical role in Spirited was any indication, we’re sure it’ll be well worth the wait.

This news comes a day after Reynolds & his Maximum Effort team announced a new film production hub in Ontario.

Construction on the new production studio has yet to begin and its end date is unknown at the moment but according to reports, it will be the “largest film and TV production hub in Canada.”
