If you’re an avid biker, a trip to Rossland in BC’s West Kootenay is well worth it any time of year. As the mountain biking capital of Canada, the small mountain city has an intriguing history of biking on various historic trails. According to Tourism Rossland, this includes a range of old railway beds, miners’ trails, and whisky-running routes.
One of the “founding bike destinations in BC,” the city boasts over 200 kilometres of bike trails, with a full-time crew maintaining them regularly.
According to Tourism Rossland, the extensive single-track system and variety of rides are what lure bikers from across the world to the small city.

For easier rides, its recommended to explore the hundreds of kilometres of old wagon roads or railways left over from the town’s mining days. Serious bikers can spend the day riding the famous Seven Summits Trail or one of the many downhill single-track trails.
Situated high in the Monashee Mountains, Rossland is also a popular ski and snowboard destination, and home to one of the largest ski resorts in Western Canada, AKA RED Mountain Resort.
