This Washington State Park has over 9,000 explorable acres and a historic swinging bridge

Want to visit a State Park that has a little bit of everything? Riverside State Park has 9,194 acres along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers. The park is home to various activities like mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and boating.

Due to the sheer size of the park, you have the ability to explore many different trails. Perhaps one of the coolest hikes you can do is across a swinging bridge at Bowl & Pitcher. At 2.1 miles, roundtrip it’s a relatively short hike that gives you the chance to view an impressive bridge built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).

While the bridge itself is amazing, you can also see large basalt rocks rising out of the river as you cross and continue on your journey.

With so many things to do at the park, a stop at the interpretive center is a great choice. It is open Saturdays through Monday from 10 AM to 4 PM between May 1st and September 30th or by appointment year-round.

In order to visit the park you will need to purchase a Discover Pass which can be done online or on-site. And if you want to start your journey with a little education you can always check out the self-guided interpretive trail, which explains the history of gathering food and trading along the Spokane River.
