It’s officially camping season, and if you have summer trips lined up it’s time to make sure all of your gear is in order. And if you’d rather rent a piece of gear than purchase, you’re in luck because Seattle has plenty of spots that make that doable. Here are 6 places to rent camping gear in Seattle for summer adventures.

REI

Seattle’s most famous outdoor store has gear rentals! You’ll need to call your local location to get individual item availability but generally, stores rent out gear ranging from car camping to backpacking, mountain biking to road biking, and much more.

Ascent Outdoors

Ascent Outdoors is a great spot for renting camping, mountaineering, and rock climbing gear. They also sell new and used gear if you decide you need to make some purchases.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 11 AM-7 PM, Sunday 11 AM-6 PM

Back40

This unique rental service has no physical location but allows you to rent a pre-made backpacking kit. The kits are meant for use for 1-3 nights and come with necessary gear like a backpack, tent, sleeping pad, poles, water filtration system, and more. They start at $170 for one person and once you’ve selected your kit you can pick it up from a specified location.

Feathered Friends

This local down-centric shop rents sleeping bags, puffers, and all sorts of gear. Prices vary depending on the number of days you plan on going and what piece of equipment you need. Feathered Friends can work with you to create a plan of what you need and for how long.

Gearhouse

Gearhouse is unique in that it’s a community of like-minded outdoor folks. They offer gear rentals for both members and non-members alike. Available gear ranges from kits to individual pieces for all seasons.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8 AM-8 PM, Saturday & Sunday 7 AM-7 PM

MTN Gear

You can rent almost everything you see on MTN Gear’s website. The store has a great selection of gear for all seasons and they’ll even send it right to you if you’d prefer.

Hours: Sunday 12 PM–5 PM, Monday & Tuesday 11 AM–5 PM, Wednesday 11 AM–6 PM, Thursday-Saturday 11 AM–7 PM
