This Ontario park is famous for its towering cliffs & majestic waterfalls

Outdoor adventure enthusiasts, we’ve got the perfect spot for you to check out this summer.

Quetico Provincial Park is an “iconic wilderness class park” right here in Ontario and there are many reasons why this place is considered so special.

According to Ontario Parks, Quetico is “renowned for its rugged beauty, towering rock cliffs, majestic waterfalls, virgin pine, and spruce forests, picturesque rivers and lakes.”

With 2,000 lakes and 460,000 hectares of remote wilderness, this park is said to be a “world-famous” destination for backcountry canoeing.

Not only is it ideal for camping, canoeing, and hiking, but also for star-gazing.

Quetico is a recognized International Dark Sky Park.

It received the designation from the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) for its incredible views of the night sky, making it an ideal place to witness meteor showers and moon phases.

Campers can pitch tents here all year round, and there are winterized rustic cabins for rent at the park too.

Dawson Trail Campground is equipped with facilities and amenities for campers, but it’s also a haven for backcountry camping with over 2,200 sites to explore.

Much like Algonquin, you can spend two days or two weeks exploring this park. The opportunities are endless.

A fun fact about Quetico Provincial Park is that it is the only place in Ontario where you can visit a remote ranger station on the international border as you paddle from Canada into the USA.

That’s because it shares its southern border with the Superior National Forest of Minnesota.

If you want to cross “international canoe voyage” off your bucketlist this summer, you know where to go!
