Canadian company gives its employees a 4-day work week for 6 months

The work week as we know it is changing and some companies are choosing to be at the forefront, including Canadian marketing communications agency PRAXIS. The company is participating in a four-day work week pilot starting this fall.

PRAXIS is taking part in a large-scale pilot to test the viability of a shortened week. The pilot is called 4 Day Week Global and 60 companies across North America are participating.

The six-month pilot will be facilitated by researchers at Cambridge UniversityBoston CollegeOxford University, as well as regional researchers.

The pilot will follow a model called “100-80-100” meaning that employees will still get 100% of their pay while working 80% of the time and committing to 100% productivity.

“We’ve chosen to participate in the pilot as an investment in the well-being and happiness of our employees,” said Matt Juniper, Associate Partner and General Manager at PRAXIS PR in a press release.

The pilot will begin in October and will run through March. PRAXIS will then assess the results and decide whether or not to make it permanent.

PRAXIS is far from the only company in Canada with a four-day work week. Several workplaces across the country have made it a permanent part of their culture and one Toronto-based agency says it has even doubled their success.

Who knows what the future has in store? We’re ready to say goodbye to the 9 to 5 grind, that’s for sure.
