Vancouver has a new beachside patio that will pop up every weekend this summer

Summer officially starts this week, which means it’s prime patio season in Vancouver, with new spots popping up every day. This includes a new patio pop-up at Kitsilano Pool, which is sure to be a hotspot for beach-goers all summer long!

Although the pool itself will remain closed for repairs, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has launched a new alcohol service at the pool’s concession.

Created in partnership with Vancouver’s beloved ‘shipping container bar,’ Batch, the new pop-up patio will be open every weekend until the end of September.

Even better? The historic Kitsilano Showboat is finally back with a lineup of free shows this summer, which kicks off at 7 pm on Friday, June 21st with a special program planned for National Indigenous Peoples Day.

At the new Kitsilano patio, beach-goers can stop by for a couple of beachside drinks, including beer, wine, cider, cocktails, and non-alcoholic sips. Visitors can also enjoy live music featuring local artists, all surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.

Alcohol service will be available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 10 pm, though the concession stand will be open from 11 am to dusk from Wednesday to Sunday, weather permitting.

Eats at the Kitsilano Pool Concession Stand include a variety of burgers, hot dogs, french fries and sides, mini fish and chips, and hot and cold beverages.

Bummed you won’t get to swim at Kits Pool this summer? The City has extended the hours of the Second Beach Pool, which is now open for public swimming at the following hours daily:

  • 9 am to 11:30 am
  • Noon to 2:30 pm
  • 3 pm to 5:30 pm
  • 6 pm to 8:30 pm

So there you have it, Vancouver! Happy sipping!
