Get ready, Vancouver! It might not feel like it at the moment, but it won’t be long before summer rolls around, bringing one of the city’s most iconic nighttime events with it. Yes, we’re talking about the spectacular Honda Celebration of Light – which is officially back for summer 2024!

Update: The participating countries have been announced! See who they are here.

Drawing thousands of local and international visitors every year, the Celebration of Light is a huge deal for lovers of fireworks, as it’s not often that Vancouver’s skies light up with dazzling displays.

The free festival takes place across three days every July, with a different country hosting the show each night.

During last year’s festival, Team Philippines came out on top as the official winner of the international competition.

In addition to an illuminated show, visitors can peruse some of the best food truck eats in the city, gathering together at English Bay, Sunset or Kits Beach, or one of Vancouver’s many parks with a good view to enjoy each performance.

For reference, the Honda Celebration of Light is both BC’s “largest live event” and the longest-running offshore fireworks festival in the world. Since 1990, the event has hosted dozens of countries for the international exhibition and competition, according to organizers.

As of now, the list of participating countries is not quite out yet, with the announcement delayed due to the Fort Nelson wildfires. So stay tuned for the official list of participants!

Mark your calendars, Vancouver! The celebrated firework show will be here before you know it.
