Vancouver is getting a spacious new Italian restaurant with an open-air dining room

Get ready for another delicious new restaurant coming your way, Vancouver. Opening this winter in the heart of Cambie Village is the newest venture of Banda Volpi – the team behind a slew of popular Italian eateries, including Osteria Savio Volpe, Caffè La Tana, and Pepino’s Spaghetti House. So if you’re craving seconds, you’re about to get it in spades.

Inspired by the cuisine and warm atmosphere of southern Italy, Osteria Elio Volpe is the “carefree cousin” of Savio Volpe, according to the restaurant. Guests can expect to enjoy specialty dishes like squid ink linguine with Dungeness crab and jalapeño, grilled giant prawns with salsa verde, and risotto al limone with sea urchins.

“Where Savio Volpe is wise and suave, Elio Volpe is young, carefree and curious,” says Paul Grunberg, who opened Savio Volpe with longtime business partner Craig Stanghetta. “Just like with Savio, this new spot is a little off the beaten path but part of the fabric of an existing neighbourhood, and exemplifies the best of Italian hospitality with a distinctly sunny disposition.”

Located in a former mechanic shop, Elio Volpe will take patrons on a journey to the vibrant southern coast of Italy, while infusing its dishes with inspiration from the Pacific Northwest as well.

The 4,200-square-foot space (designed by Ste Marie Studio) will feature 115 seats, with a massive open-air dining room ready to immerse guests in an authentic experience. There will also be a bar with wrap-around seating, if you’re looking for a quick bite or a drink.

Osteria Elio Volpe will officially open its doors on Thursday, March 14th.

So there you have it, Vancouver. Stay tuned for more info as it comes!
