Looking for a getaway? You may want to consider a staycation right here in Ontario. Not only can you get money back on your accommodations with Ontario’s staycation tax credit, but a few cities will even give you free spending money for staying there.
Several cities are running promotions where you can get a pre-paid VISA card just for booking a stay at one of their hotels.
Hamilton, Halton, and Brant Tourism (which includes cities like Burlington, Oakville, and Brantford) will give you a $50 gift card when you book a one-night stay or a $100 gift card when you book two consecutive nights at one of the participating hotels in the region, as part of their StayTripping promotion.

Tourism Mississauga will do you one better. Not only will they give you a $100 prepaid VISA when you book a two-night stay at their participating hotels, but also a $20 gift card to Square One Shopping Centre. However, you should book soon because their offer is only valid for stays before September 5, 2022.
London’s Stay a Little Longer program runs until the end of 2022, so you can save your $100 VISA voucher for the holiday season if you wanted to.
However, the best deal of all might be in Ottawa. Visitors who purchase two consecutive nights at a participating hotel through the Tourism Ottawa booking engine will get the third night for free! The offer is valid until October 10, 2022, and you can check out the additional terms and conditions before you book.
You can even get a deal on your transportation! GO Transit will give you a free weekend day pass with the purchase of one, which means you can get to and from your destination of choice for half the price.

And don’t forget to get your money back with Ontario’s tax credit. Ontarians who have a 2022 staycation in the province can get a 20% personal income tax credit on eligible stays (of up to $1,000 per individual & $2,000 per family) over the course of the year.
All of this is a great way to support Ontario’s local tourism and save some money while you’re at it.
