Looking for a getaway this summer? You may want to consider a staycation right here in Ontario. Not only can you get money back on your accommodations with Ontario’s staycation tax credit, but a few cities will even give you free spending money for staying there.

Guelph, Mississauga, and London are each running promotions where you can get a pre-paid VISA card just for booking a two-night stay at one of their hotels.

If you book a two-night consecutive stay at one of Guelph’s participating hotels this summer or fall, you’ll be given $100 to use anywhere during your stay, by applying the promo code “seeyoUinGuelph”.

Tourism Mississauga will do you one better. Not only will they give you a $100 prepaid VISA when you book a two-night stay at their participating hotels, but also a $20 gift card to Square One Shopping Centre.

London’s Stay a Little Longer program is similar to Guelph’s, only their promotion runs from July 5 all the way to the end of 2022, so you can save your voucher for the holiday season if you wanted to.

You can even get a deal on your transportation! GO Transit will give you a free weekend day pass with the purchase of one, which means you can get to and from your destination of choice for half the price.

And don’t forget to get your money back with Ontario’s tax credit. Ontarians who have a 2022 staycation in the province can get a 20% personal income tax credit on eligible stays (of up to $1,000 per individual & $2,000 per family) over the course of the year.

All of this is a great way to support Ontario’s local tourism and save some money while you’re at it.
