There’s something really peaceful about ice skating at night, guided by the moonlight – and a few tiki torches. There are a handful of Ontario skating trails that welcome guests to enjoy an evening under the stars for a different kind of winter activity.
Many of these trails are often lit up by hundreds of tiki torches, offering a more intimate skating adventure.

If you’re looking for a fun winter experience, sharpen those ice skates. There’s a wonderful ice skating trail in Ontario that winds past almost 100 acres of natural woods, illuminated by twinkling string lights. Icelynd Skating Trails opens this month and it’s worth the trip.
When: Opening January 13th, 2024
Where: 6865 Fernbank Rd – Stittsville, Ontario
This 1.1 km ice skating loop is located at the top of Blue Mountain and offers incredible views of the Niagara Escarpment.
You’ll truly feel like you’re in a winter wonderland with nothing but snow-covered trees and soaring views around you as you glide along the trail.
But, the real magic happens after sunset. Thousands of interactive lights illuminate the ice at night, guiding you around the trail as you skate after dark on select nights.
It has an anticipated opening date of January 5th, 2024.

Check out Arrowhead Provincial Park’s skating trail on Fire & Ice nights. The path is illuminated with hundreds of tiki torches. According to the park, the availability of skating is weather dependent but it usually opens in January.
Where: 451 Arrowhead Park Rd, Huntsville, ON
Lace up your skates and hit the 1.5km natural ice surface magical winter experience. But you need to stop by in the evening and skate at night. The trail is lit by dozens of torches to guide you on your way.
Where: 4432 Fern Resort Road – Ramara, ON
A string of lights make the LV Four Season Trail shine bright during night skates – a popular event throughout the winter season. It is not yet open for the season but check back on a later date to find out more.
Where: 2 Henan Rd – Pembroke, ON
The ice trail opens annually on December 27 and welcomes all for a day of some fun in the snow. And on Saturday nights, the trail is lit with 400 tiki torches for “Light the Night” night skating. How cool is that?!
Where: Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery – 1074 Cranberry Road, Bala
Though it’s not lit up by torches, the Barbara Ann Scott Ice Trail in Toronto’s College Park is illuminated with bright city lights for the perfect night skate.
